Injuries and recalls are
bound to take their toll on a team. Saturday night was no exception,
as the Hershey Bears, playing with an ECHL flavor for the second
straight game, allowed five consecutive goals -- 4 in the 1st
period alone -- as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers cruised to a
5-2 win before 7,737 fans at Giant Center. Sean Bergenheim (2
goals, 1 assist) and Jeremy Colliton (1G, 2A) were the offensive
stars for Bridgeport (26-22-3-2, 57 points), while Frederic
Cloutier (5-4-0) turned aside 43 shots to give the 'Tigers their
first regulation win over Hershey this season. With a goal and
an assist, Jonas Johansson paced the Bears (31-14-2-7, 71 points),
with goaltender Frederic Cassivi (23-12-5) finishing with a
lackluster 18 saves on 22 shots faced.

Admirals rear Bears, 5-4
By Joe Shetrom, 7641
Sports
joe@7641.com
In what seems to be a theme
of late, the Hershey Bears jumped out to an early lead, only
to have their opponent storm from behind to capture victory.
Wednesday, it was the Norfolk Admirals, who, down 2-0 after
the 1st period, rallied for three goals before both teams exchanged
back-and-forth scores in the 3rd period. Norfolk would have
the last laugh, though, as Mark Cullen potted his second marker
of the period -- 28 seconds after Hershey's Tomas Fleischmann
evened the contest at 4-4 -- giving the Admirals a 5-4 win before
5,252 at Giant Center. Pavel Vorobiev, recently assigned from
the parent Chicago Blackhawks, also posted two goals for Norfolk
(25-18-2-3, 55 points), who made their final 2005/06 visit to
Chocolatetown. Jalub Klepis would net two scores, while Fleischmann
and Boyd Gordon each finished with a goal and an assist for
Hershey (30-13-2-7, 69 points), who fell to 3-5-0-1 against
the Ads this season.
