Showing the resiliency of a team sporting the American Hockey League's best record, the Hershey Bears, down 5-4 late in the 3rd period, reeled off two goals 22 seconds apart to best the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 6-5 and give the Bears their season-high seventh consecutive win before 8,392 Saturday night at Giant Center. Chris Bourque (4 points) tallied his first career hat trick as Hershey (46-14-6-6, 104 points) vaulted past the Norfolk Admirals (103 points) into 1st place in the East Division. Alexandre Giroux, Joey Tenute and Quintin Laing also potted markers, while goaltender Maxime Daigneault (21-6-0) stopped 22 shots as Hershey moved within one point of tying the franchise mark for regular season points (105, set during the 1987/88 campaign). James Sixsmith, in just his second professional contest, bagged two lamp-lighters for Bridgeport (33-33-1-5, 72 points), who also saw goals from former Bear Mark Wotton, Gregg Johnson and Jamie Johnson. Billy Thompson (10-17-0) suffered the loss with 30 saves.

Wolf Pack sink Bears in OT 3-2

By Joe Shetrom, 7641 Sports

The elements of a playoff game were there: big hits, fights and clutch goaltending. And for the second time in just over a month, the Hershey Bears and Hartford Wolf Pack battled to a one goal decision, with the visiting Wolf Pack leaving with a 3-2 overtime win before 7,945 Sunday evening at Giant Center. After Chris Bourque's slapper gave the Bears a 1-0 lead at 12:07 of the 1st period, the first of two Hugh Jessiman goals on the night tied the contest at 18:39 of the 1st. Following a scoreless 2nd stanza, recently-named co-captain Alexandre Giroux once again gave Hershey a lead, chalking up a power play marker at 4:43 of the 3rd. With Tyler Sloan serving a tripping penalty for the Bears, Jessiman knotted the score at 17:46, sending the contest to extra frames. In sudden death, Sloan would get whistled for hooking, and Hartford's Martin Richter sealed the come-from-behind victory with a slapshot from the point, snapping Hershey's modest three game winning streak. Al Montoya (18-12-0) earned the win for the Wolf Pack (36-21-3-0, 75 points), stopping 21 shots. Maxime Daigneault (17-5-0) suffered the loss for Hershey (37-13-6-5, 85 points) with 28 saves.

Displaying one of their most impressive performances of the 2006/07 campaign, the Hershey Bears drubbed the Binghamton Senators 7-1 before 9,581 Saturday night at Giant Center. Newcomer Scott Barney, in his first home game as a Bear, led the way on offense for Hershey with 2 goals and 2 assists, with goaltender Maxime Daigneault (17-4-0) turning aside 33 of 34 shots faced and besting BSens goalie Jeff Glass (8-19-2) during a 3rd period brawl. Joey Tenute (1G, 2A), Matt Hendricks (1G, 1A), Kyle Wilson, Chris Bourque (1G, 1A) and Dave Steckel also potted lamp-lighters for the Bears (37-13-5-5, 84 points), scorers of seven unanswered goals and winners of four straight against Binghamton (17-35-2-5, 41 points). Ryan Vesce would give the visitors a 1-0 lead at 11:44 of the 1st, but Hershey responded with a pair of strikes just over a minute apart at 13:51 and 14:52, respectively to hand the Senators their sixth consecutive loss.
